February 14, 2018 was the day of the Parkland shooting, Valentine’s Day, Ash Wednesday and my birthday. I decided to spend the day at the Corkscrew Swamp Nature Preserve and when I returned home the door from the garage into the house was locked. This was very unusual because I do not have a key to that door. Eventually I realized that the sliding glass door in the rear of the house had been lifted out of the track. I searched the house and found the following items missing: a woman’s Rolex watch with a diamond bezel that my husband had given me for Christmas, a men’s Rolex watch that I had given to my husband, a diamond wedding band, $500 in cash and a cell phone battery pack. In April the men’s watch and the wedding band were recovered form a pawn shop and the person responsible was arrested. He was a neighbor of mine with a list of previous arrests. He eventually pled to pawning stolen goods and was sentenced to 40 months in jail but refused to give up the location of my watch. I would love to have it back because of its sentimental value and because at this stage in my life I will never be able to afford another one. Thank you for your help.
