The bike was found by The Sonoma County Sheriffs Office during a traffic stop on Saturday night. It was in the bed of a truck of a scumbag who was pulled over for driving without license plates. He’s now in custody and I’m pressing charges. Surprisingly the bike isn’t in too bad of shape as far as I can tell now. The ignition/lock was punched out, the seat is gone, and the battery is missing. Some screws and bolts that hold the plastics on were loosened/removed, and there are a few scratches here and there from being laid down in the truck bed. Looks like about $300-$500 in parts to bring her back to showroom condition. I plan on seeking restitution and/or suing the shithead that took it just on principal alone. Not cool man. Not cool.
My week old Honda Grom was stolen between 11pm Saturday night and 830am Sunday morning. It was parked in the building’s “secure” parking garage that is only supposed to be accessible by residents of the building. I just moved to CA and don’t know anyone here, so it had to be someone very local. The bike was parked against a wall with my car bumper 6 inches from it, and it was not visible by anyone who just walked by. My parking space is also at the very end of the garage, so very few people would actually know the bike was there at all as it’s a low traffic area.
I’m more upset that I won’t be able to work on the bike with my son today than anything else. He’s been excited to help me install some aftermarket parts and it broke his heart to hear the bike is gone. I can replace the bike, whatever. The fact that whoever stole it hurt my son is unacceptable.
