I was walking home and a man rushed past me with a baseball bat, stood in front of me in batter stance and told me to give him my backpack. I was not clear on what he was asking because it would just not register that this was really happening. Then he took a swing at me and I jumped out of the way. I threw me hands up and began screaming for him to ‘stop’ and ‘please don’t take my backpack’. I turned to run and saw another smaller individual with a black hoodie on with the hood up standing right behind me. He brandished a small knife and told me to give him the ‘fucking backpack’ as they both moved in towards me. As they did, I fell backwards into bushes lining the street. There was no way out of the situation for me, so I gave hem my backpack. They then told me to give them my phone which I also did. They then ran off into the night and the police arrived. The laptop was a brand new laptop I got to finally get back into work mode after struggling for so long with a portable computer. The Macbook Pro was only in my posession for three days and I was only a block away from my place when this happened. My phone was cracked all over the place – so the likely hood that it will be anything the two men could even sell is slim. If there is anything else you would like to know please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you for your help – it really means a lot to me that so many people have been kind and helpful after this happened.
