2024 Lamborghini Urus Performante Stolen in Miami Amid Transport Scam

, , , , ,

Miami, FL – February 12, 2025 – A 2024 Lamborghini Urus Performante was stolen in Miami while being transported from Florida to Houston in a complex scam that exploited multiple shipping brokers and transport companies.

The owner arranged for vehicle transport through Shiply.com, an online shipping marketplace. Shiply broker HGR Logistics then hired Sour Trucking via Central Dispatch, believing it to be a legitimate transport provider. However, Sour Trucking, a real company, does not use Central Dispatch, meaning the person posing as them was an impostor. This is one of several cases where the scammers have been using the name of Sour Trucking.

2024 Lamborghini Urus Performante Just Prior To Its Theft

The Arabian gray G63, featuring distinctive characteristics, was initially picked up from a dealership in Calabasas, California, on February 10, 2025. The vehicle was then transported to Georgia, arriving on February 14, where it was handed over to an unidentified individual, presumably hired by the scammers to receive the delivery. The Dekalb County Police Department has documented the incident and is currently investigating as well as Hinch Investigations, a private investigations company specializing in automotive shipping scams and auto theft.

This fraudulent operator then used another fake Central Dispatch account under KAE Logistics to hire Spengler Trucking, a legitimate transport company, for the job. Unaware of the deception, Spengler Trucking picked up the Urus, while the owner and the initial broker still believed Sour Trucking was handling the transport.

How the Theft Unfolded

The Lamborghini was equipped with a factory UNICA vehicle tracking system and an Apple AirTag placed with the keys. However, five days after pickup, the AirTag showed no movement, remaining near a Miami casino. It was later discovered that the tracker had been discarded in a sewer. Meanwhile, the UNICA system had been placed into privacy mode, preventing the owner from tracking the vehicle’s location.

The scam escalated when Spengler Trucking was misled into believing the transport contract had changed. They were instructed to drop off the vehicle in South Miami rather than complete the journey to Houston. The reasoning provided was that the shipment was too costly and the agreed price was incorrect.

To finalize the handoff, a scammer using the alias Ibraham Ayoub sent Spengler Trucking a $500 Zelle payment and directed them to park the Urus in a Miami parking lot. In a rush, the driver took photos of the vehicle on the street and left the keys in a so-called “safe spot”—on top of the front tire. Shortly after, the vehicle was stolen from the parking location.

A Web of Deception

Every party involved—Shiply, HGR Logistics, Sour Trucking, KAE Logistics, and Spengler Trucking—has claimed to be victims of the scam. The fraudulent operator behind the fake Sour Trucking and KAE Logistics accounts likely orchestrated the entire scheme, deceiving all parties and ensuring the vehicle was never properly delivered.

A stolen vehicle report has been filed with the Miami Police Department, and investigations are ongoing.

Background on the Lamborghini Urus Performante

The 2024 Lamborghini Urus Performante is a high-performance luxury SUV powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, producing 657 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. With a 0-60 mph time of 3.3 seconds, the Urus Performante is among the fastest SUVs on the market. It features lightweight carbon fiber components, an upgraded active air suspension, and a rally driving mode for enhanced off-road capabilities.

Given its high desirability and starting price of over $270,000, the Urus Performante has become a prime target for sophisticated auto theft rings. Criminals often exploit online transport platforms, using identity fraud and fake broker accounts to reroute luxury vehicles to unauthorized locations before they disappear.

Authorities urge vehicle owners to use caution when arranging transport and verify the legitimacy of every broker and carrier involved in the shipping process.
