Classic Goes Missing in Tehachapi – Custom 1939 Chevy Master Deluxe Snatched from Garage

Stolen 1939 Chevrolet Master Deluxe 4-door sedan (VIN 9JB0615692) in primer gray with black fenders and exterior windshield sun visor.

On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at approximately 2:30 to 3:00 PM, a classic 1939 Chevrolet Master Deluxe 4-Door Sedan was discovered stolen from a garage property along the 21300 block of Highline Road in Tehachapi, California. At the time of the theft, the vehicle was mid-restoration, finished in a distinct primer gray body with black fenders as the owner was actively prepping the street rod for a fresh coat of paint. Inside, the car still retains an older vintage wool interior.

Beneath the pre-war body, this Master Deluxe is a heavily modified street rod built with extensive performance and handling upgrades. It is powered by a small-block Chevy V8 engine and rides on a customized chassis equipped with a Mustang front clip, coil-over airbag suspension, rack-and-pinion steering, four-wheel disc brakes, and a durable 9-inch Ford rear differential.

Introduced in the late 1930s, the Chevrolet Master Deluxe was known for its sleek Art Deco styling, bullet-shaped headlights, and streamlined pre-war curves, making it an iconic favorite among classic car enthusiasts and street rod fabricators. Stolen 911 has a proven track record when it comes to tracking down these rare pre-war classics: years after another historic coupe disappeared, Stolen 911 helped locate and recover a stolen 1938 Chevy Master Deluxe. With community awareness across California and the classic hot rod circuit, this 1939 sedan can be recovered as well.
