Stolen 911 (“Company,” “We,” “Us,” or “Our”) is a public service website owned and operated by Hinch Investigations (California Private Investigator License #189056). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you visit stolen911.com and use our stolen property registry.

1. Information We Collect

When you submit a stolen property case to our registry, we collect two distinct categories of information:

A. Public Information (Asset Details)

This is the factual information about the crime and the property. This information WILL be published publicly on the Stolen 911 website. It includes:

  • The make, model, and description of the stolen asset.
  • Unique identifiers (VINs, serial numbers, license plates).
  • The city, state, and date where the theft occurred.
  • The name of the police agency and the official police report number.
  • Photos of the stolen property or suspect videos.

B. Private Information (Your Contact Details)

This is your personal identifying information. This information is NEVER published on the website. It includes:

  • Your full name.
  • Your email address.
  • Your phone number.

2. How We Use and Store Your Information

Our primary goal is to help recover your property while keeping you safe from scammers and vigilantes.

  • Public Registry: We use the Public Information you provide to create a search-engine-optimized listing on Stolen 911. This allows law enforcement, buyers, and the general public to identify your stolen asset.
  • Offline Secure Contact: Other than the factual details of what was stolen, no personal information is kept publicly on the site. We retain your original submission emails and contact information securely offline/internally. We only use this private information to contact you if a tip, lead, or relevant information regarding your case is submitted to our investigators.

3. Information Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal contact information to third parties. We may only share your Private Information in the following circumstances:

  • Law Enforcement: We may disclose your information and any tips received to official law enforcement agencies if required by law, or if we believe it is necessary to aid in an active criminal investigation.
  • Legal Obligations: We may disclose your information to comply with a subpoena, court order, or similar legal process.

4. Cookies and Automated Tracking

Like most websites, Stolen 911 uses standard technologies, such as cookies and Google Analytics, to collect automated Usage Data. This helps us understand how visitors navigate the site so we can improve the user experience. Usage Data may include your IP address, browser type, device type, and the pages you visit. This data is anonymized and is not linked to the Private Information you submit in a case report.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

Public listings of stolen property generally remain active in our database indefinitely to aid in long-term recovery efforts. However, if your property is recovered, or if you simply wish to have your case and personal data removed from our systems, you have the right to request deletion. Please email us at the address below with your case URL and we will promptly remove your listing and associated data.

6. Third-Party Links

Our website may contain links to third-party sites (such as the NICB VIN check, news articles, or social media platforms). We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of those third-party websites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing them with any personal data.

Stolen 911 does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 18. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us so we can take steps to remove that information from our servers.
