The stolen vehicle is a striking red, 2-door convertible — a model highly prized by car collectors and enthusiasts. The 1962 Impala SS is considered one of the most iconic classic cars from the early 1960s, combining performance with style. Equipped with a V8 engine, it was known for its powerful performance and sleek design, features that have made it a prime target for thieves looking to profit from its high value in the collector’s market.
The theft was reported to the Edgewood Police Department, who have since posted about the incident on their social media pages in an effort to garner public assistance. Additionally, the Impala was posted to PNW Stolen Cars, a Facebook group dedicated to solving auto theft crimes since 2012. Despite these efforts, no significant leads have emerged, and the case remains unsolved.
In a statement, Investigator Marc Hinch of Hinch Investigations, a private firm specializing in vehicle theft recovery, appealed for tips. “Classic cars like the 1962 Impala SS are particularly vulnerable to theft because of their high demand in the collector’s market,” said Hinch. “We are committed to using all available resources to track down the car and bring those responsible to justice.”
Hinch Investigations has been operating since 2007, specializing in stolen vehicle recovery through their web application, Stolen911.com. The platform has helped track and recover numerous stolen vehicles, but the theft of a classic car like the Impala SS presents unique challenges.
