Austin, TX – Months after a highly customized Chevrolet Corvette vanished from a residential street in East Austin, investigators continue to pursue leads in what has become a cold-case style vehicle theft involving a distinctive performance build.

The theft was discovered on the morning of July 26, 2025, after the owner realized the vehicle had disappeared overnight. At the time, the Corvette was parked on the street in a residential area and had last been seen intact the evening before.
🕒 Timeline of Events
According to the report, the Corvette was last seen at approximately 8:00 p.m. on July 25, 2025. When the owner checked on the vehicle the following morning at approximately 10:30 a.m., it was gone.
The theft was reported to the Austin Police Department, which documented the incident under APD Case #25-207074. Despite initial efforts, the vehicle was not located in the immediate aftermath of the theft.
In the weeks that followed, investigators learned that the Corvette’s Texas license plates (RHV5311) were later observed in the Killeen, Texas area — a development suggesting the vehicle may have been moved out of the Austin metro region shortly after the theft.

🧊 A Case That Has Gone Cold
With several months having passed since the theft, the case now resembles a cold file. Investigators note that high-end Corvettes with performance upgrades are frequently targeted for parts harvesting, VIN swapping, or cloned resale, and may be quickly hidden, dismantled, or prepared for movement across state lines.

Anyone considering purchasing a modified Corvette is urged to closely scrutinize documentation, VIN locations, and recent paint or bodywork changes. If you have any theory about what happened, or believe you’ve seen this vehicle, contact Investigator Marc Hinch directly.
