Patience Pays Off: Ferrari 296 GTS Successfully Recovered

After four months of careful investigation and pursuit of digital leads, CHP successfully located and recovered this highly customized 2024 Ferrari 296 GTS.

The vehicle was originally stolen on December 19, 2024, in a highly organized Transport Theft Scam. The owner had arranged for the supercar to be shipped to South Carolina, but fraudulent haulers intercepting the load via a Central Dispatch scam rerouted the vehicle across the country to Van Nuys, California.

Thanks to the rapid indexing of the Ferrari’s unique identifiers—including its unmistakable Grigio Scuro paint, yellow Alcantara upholstery, and yellow calipers—our recovery network was able to trace the asset despite the thieves’ attempts to hide it in transit.

(Note: During this same transport theft, a white 2025 Mercedes G63 4×4 Squared Brabus also went missing. Our network remains actively engaged in tracking down all assets associated with this fraudulent carrier).

The Danger of Central Dispatch Shipping Scams

This recovery highlights a rapidly growing trend in luxury car heists: Shipping Fraud.

Highly organized crime rings are masquerading as reputable transportation companies, infiltrating load boards like Central Dispatch, and legally taking possession of high-end exotic cars, classic cars, and heavy equipment. Once loaded, the GPS trackers are disabled, and the assets are driven to unknown drop locations, leaving the owners and legitimate brokers completely in the dark.

Because these vehicles seamlessly disappear during interstate transit, early indexing is crucial. Creating an active digital footprint in the Stolen 911 database ensures that when these vehicles inevitably resurface for sale or export, specialized auto brokers, port authorities, and law enforcement can instantly identify them as stolen property.
