SUNNYVALE, CA – Authorities and investigators are seeking information regarding the theft of a gray 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Wagon from a Sunnyvale driveway on July 10, 2025. The high-performance wagon, featuring a rare 6-speed manual transmission, was taken around 4:00 AM in a highly coordinated effort.
Modus Operandi: The “Push” Heist
Security footage reveals a professional execution. The suspects likely cut the vehicle’s horn wires to disable the audible alarm before smashing a window to gain entry. Using electronic tools, they appear to have reprogrammed a key fob to the vehicle’s computer. To avoid detection by neighbors, the thieves used a lead car to push the Cadillac down the block before finally starting the engine and driving away. This “push” method is a signature of organized crews targeting high-end muscle and performance cars.
Investigative Analysis: The Oakland Pattern
The stolen CTS-V was tracked via AirTags into Oakland and later Fremont before the tracking devices were located and removed by the suspects. This case bears striking similarities to other recent CTS-V thefts in Tracy and San Jose. In many of these instances, the vehicles are either used in illicit “sideshow” activities or immediately stripped of their high-value performance parts—such as the LSA engine and 6-speed transmission—for resale on digital marketplaces.
