What Was Supposed to Happen:
The owner arranged enclosed vehicle transport to ship the Ferrari from Las Vegas, Nevada to Montana. The shipment was booked through a freight broker, who dispatched an independent sub-carrier sourced via an industry transport load board. Under the agreement, a licensed auto carrier was to pick up the vehicle, issue a formal Bill of Lading, transfer the car to an enclosed trailer, and transport it directly to its destination in Montana.
What Actually Occurred:
On August 14, 2026, a driver arrived in an open flatbed at 4305 Dean Martin Drive in Las Vegas at approximately 1:30 PM. The driver loaded the supercar without providing a Bill of Lading, claiming the car would be transferred to an enclosed trailer roughly 35 miles away. Following pickup, onboard GPS tracking revealed the Ferrari was being driven into California instead of heading north toward Montana. On August 16, 2026, the vehicle’s hybrid battery died, dropping GPS updates to 12-hour intervals. On August 17, 2026, an extortion attempt occurred when an individual calling from a 317 area code demanded an extra $1,500 via Zelle prior to delivery. Shortly after sending funds, a secondary call revealed a fraudulent double-broker/carrier impersonation scheme, and the payment was returned. The Ferrari’s GPS tracker subsequently recorded the vehicle traveling all the way across the country to Queens, New York, where it was last confirmed on the Horace Harding Expressway before the battery fully drained and signal updates ceased. The vehicle displays Montana license plate 466395E and VIN #ZFF01SMA5R0304161. A formal report has been filed with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department under report #LLV260800066295.
