VAN NUYS, CA – Information is being sought regarding the theft of a unique, custom-built 1974 Ford Bronco in Van Nuys on March 18, 2026. The vehicle, described as “one of a kind” and in great condition, is a high-target classic truck.
The theft occurred while the driver was dining at Kushiyu sushi restaurant near the corner of Ventura Blvd and Burbank Blvd. The Bronco was parked at a meter with the passenger side against the curb and was discovered missing approximately one and a half hours after it was parked.
This “one of a kind” custom build features a striking black and charcoal gray paint scheme and VIN **U15GLU88374**. It is heavily modified for off-road performance, including a 302 V8 engine, 4×4 capability, a massive **6-inch suspension lift**, and an additional **3-inch body lift**, making it exceptionally easy to spot.
Investigative Analysis: The Custom Market
Custom-built vehicles like this 1974 Ford Bronco, which features a 9-inch total lift and a 302 V8 engine, are high-value targets for specialized theft rings. Because these trucks are often destined for international shipment, hidden in private collections, or dismantled for their sought-after custom components, generating immediate local tips is crucial. There were no signs of broken glass at the scene, which could indicate a professional-grade theft method. If this distinctive Bronco is spotted being loaded onto a container or trailer, Hinch Investigations must be notified immediately.
