BAKERSFIELD, CA – Authorities and private investigators are seeking the public’s assistance following the theft of a classic 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS on the evening of Sunday, December 28, 2025. The vehicle was taken from a residential parking lot in a heist that left no physical evidence behind.

The theft occurred at a newly constructed apartment complex located at 2018 Kentucky St in Bakersfield. The vehicle was parked and locked at approximately 6:30 PM. When the owners returned to the vehicle between 8:50 PM and 9:00 PM, the classic Chevy was gone.

Theft Details & Scene Conditions

The vehicle was parked in a lot described as “gated but open” at the time of the incident. Notably, investigators found no broken glass at the scene, suggesting the suspect(s) may have gained entry without force or utilized specialized tools to bypass the locks.

Despite being a high-value classic, the Impala was not equipped with modern anti-theft devices, alarms, or GPS tracking. Both sets of original keys remain accounted for. A canvas of the immediate area for surveillance footage was unsuccessful, as no security cameras were present to capture the suspect or the exit route.
